Gabby receives a DAISY Award nomination

A coworker nominated Gabriela, AKA Gabby, for a DAISY Award after a patient gave heartfelt recognition and appreciation for the meaningful care she gave.

The coworker wrote, “A patient pressed the call light, and I walked into the room to help. It was not my assigned patient, but she told me about her experience with Gabby. The patient said she knew how difficult she could be. She said she’s old and alone and can be very grumpy sometimes. She also told me how amazing Gabby had been. She said Gabby was absolutely amazing from the time the patient got to the ER. She was super sweet, very patient and did everything right when the patient needed it or when it had to be done. Gabby constantly checked on her to make sure she was alright and grabbed anything she needed. At a time when everything had been going really fast for the patient, she really loved and appreciated Gabby.”

Congratulations on your nomination, Gabby. Your team is proud of you, and so are we!

Kayla receives praise from her facility

A facility recognized and expressed appreciation for Kayla for her teamwork mentality, her continuous efforts to assist others and for being a huge help to the facility overall.

The facility manager said, “Kayla always has a positive attitude and admirable work ethic. One time, her patient was sent to interventional radiology and ended up being gone for about 90 minutes. As soon as Kayla returned to the unit, after dropping her patient off, she notified the charge nurse that she was going to go relieve the PCU nurse for a lunch break. This may seem small, but it was a huge help to the charge nurse dealing with a busy unit. After covering the PCU nurse, she continued to help out, and this has been a recurring theme while Kayla has been with us. She never sits around during downtime and instead always uses it to help others. We appreciate her so much. Our ICU charge nurse said Kayla is always wonderful and so great to work with.”

Your team appreciates your thoughtfulness and care, Kayla, and so do we. Keep up the good work!

Danielle is nominated for a DAISY Award

A coworker nominated Danielle for a DAISY Award for inspiring them to lead their care with compassion and for displaying top-notch clinical skills.

The coworker wrote, “Danielle and I have worked together since we were new graduates. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing her develop into an influential nursing leader. Danielle establishes immediate rapport with her patients and their support systems by communicating and demonstrating excellent clinical skills to provide the highest level of care. Patients and their families feel well engaged and educated during their visits. I and many others look up to Danielle as a leader. I once witnessed her care for a mentally ill patient who was in crisis, and she was able to de-escalate the situation with her superb communication and gentle voice. She found the patient’s interests and connected with them on a personal level, allowing them to open up and calmly explain their thoughts.

“As well as being compassionate and empathetic with her patients, Danielle consistently goes to work with a positive attitude. She is a hard worker and always willing to help. I am supremely lucky to have watched her succeed in this profession, and I look forward to her future as she continues as a traveling registered nurse.”

Danielle, you are an inspiration! Congratulations on the DAISY Award nomination. ...

Stacy receives a DAISY Award nomination

A patient’s family and the facility she works at both nominated Stacy for a DAISY Award for her exceptional act of kindness.

The patient’s family member wrote, “My father’s incredible RN, Stacy, made it possible for my parents to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary while staying at the hospital. My dad was on the 15th day of his healthcare journey when we received the out-of-left-field and hard-to-hear diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer. During his time at the hospital, Stacy worked with him to plan something special for my mom for their anniversary, which he’s never missed.

“Stacy went far above and beyond doing a nice gesture for a patient, coming to work early to decorate his room, set a table and dress it with miniature cupcakes, chocolates, champagne glasses and bottles of sparkling apple cider topped with a pinwheel bouquet of her design. She prepared a dining experience with shiny gold plates, matching plasticware and gold-striped napkins with dinner for two from a local BBQ restaurant. The finale was a playlist created with my dad, bringing much-needed levity to what he was enduring and thinking about in the wee hours of the night.

“When my mom walked in, there was barely a dry eye on the unit. The compassion Stacy showed my parents and family by helping them celebrate another year’s milestone can only be described as a God thing. She gracefully refused any reimbursement, instead asking that my family simply pay it forward. It is my family’s honor to recognize Stacy for the exceptional care she provided and the impact she has made at the hospital and in her community.”

The facility’s vice president of patient care services also commented, “I’m brought to tears that Stacey created this powerful moment for this family! It speaks to her compassion and love for what she does. We are truly blessed to have her on our team at this time.”

Stacy, this story is nothing short of inspiring. You are absolutely amazing, and we are so proud of you. Congratulations! ...
