Alexis quickly assessed the patient and realized it wasn’t typical abdominal pain — the patient was in active labor! Without hesitation, she advocated for a provider to immediately see the patient. The patient then gave birth, and Alexis stepped up to provide emergent temperature management of the preterm infant. She lead the resuscitation and even coordinated a NICU team from the main hospital to personally assist the transport to the NICU. Alexis went above and beyond her call of duty. She displayed compassion, utilized her expert knowledge and care and made a lasting impact that will forever shape those patients’ lives for the better.”
