Lindsey is nominated for a DAISY Award

Lindsey was nominated for a DAISY Award by a colleague for going above and beyond to provide the best patient care.

The colleague wrote, “Lindsey began her shift by terminally extubating a patient and transitioning them to comfort-focused care. She worked incredibly hard advocating for this patient to the covering physician. Lindsey coordinated the patient’s care collaboratively with the physician, house supervisor and pharmacist to get the patient the medications they needed to achieve optimum comfort during this very delicate time. Lindsey provided significant emotional support to the family while also educating them along the way. She did an amazing job caring for this patient and their family. Caring for a patient and supporting their family during end-of-life care is not easy, especially in this particular situation. It took knowledge, organization, time management and an immense amount of compassion to provide the patient and their family with the best possible outcome.”

Congratulations on the DAISY Award nomination, Lindsey!

She always asks how my days were while I was gone and always seems interested in my stories, which makes me really happy. She also tells me what she did during those few weeks. She has such a bright smile and uplifting energy. She makes me really happy and couldn’t ask for a better nurse.”

Katrina receives praise for saving a woman’s life

A facility manager praised Katrina for being in the right place at the right time to save a woman’s life.

The facility manager said, “Yesterday, Katrina and some colleagues went to dinner. Katrina happened to pull into the wrong parking lot, but as she turned to leave, a man, seeing her in her office scrubs, grabbed her and took her to his truck, where his wife sat slouched over, foaming at the mouth. Katrina leaped into action and laid the woman down to do chest sternum rubs and check for a response. There was none, nor was there a pulse, so Katrina started doing chest compressions, and the woman came to. By that time, Katrina’s colleagues had assisted by calling EMS. The doctor later arrived and spoke with EMS to inform them he did not think it had been a cardiac event. The couple was from out of town, and newlyweds, and had no idea where they were. The husband called Katrina his angel. He stopped by today to let me know what Katrina did for him and his wife and how grateful is. He said from us, to EMS, to our hospital, he had not been at another place that has provided this level of care and attentiveness. He said we are top notch!”

Katrina, your quick action and care made all the difference for that man and his wife. Thank you for everything you do!
