A colleague praised Lyneeka for the huge difference she made in a family’s delivery experience.

My daughter-in-law’s labor did not go as planned, and she hemorrhaged, losing a significant amount of blood after the delivery. Thankfully, everything worked out okay through the efforts of the entire team. I finally got to hold my granddaughter last night. As my son and daughter-in-law explained their ordeal, they could not say enough about the care and compassion they received from Lyneeka. She was a bright light during a stressful hospitalization. April is given a DAISY Award
April received a DAISY Award for her exemplary kindness toward a patient in her care during an ER stay and the huge difference she made for the patient’s family during a very difficult time.
The patient’s family member wrote, “I want to thank April. My father and I were fortunate to have her as his nurse on two different occasions. My father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and required two ER visits for supportive care. Visiting the ER is never pleasant, but April made a difficult day so much better. During our first visit, she greatly impressed us with her professionalism, skill and authentic, personable personality. When we returned a month later, she immediately recognized my dad. I thought she simply remembered his name, but I later realized she truly recognized him. It meant so much to my dad. Who knew there could be continuity of care in an ER of all places? She made us feel known and familiar. I’ll never forget how my dad liked a warmed blanket. On our second visit, April noticed he was cold when we removed his shirt and brought him a warm blanket. Well, she brought him three or four, and even wrapped one over his head so he almost looked like a shepherd. He absolutely loved it. He commented on how very, very good he felt as he drifted off to sleep. My dad passed away six days after that visit. I won’t forget the kindness, compassion and perfect care April gave him. She was a very bright spot during a very difficult and sad time. We are so grateful for having exceptional nurses like April.”
Congratulations on the well-deserved award, April! Your compassionate care touches the lives of your patients and their families. Keep up the good work!

This brought me to tears, but Autumn comforted me and answered my questions. She made a difficult experience better by helping me feel cared for. My husband and I are nurses, and we thought we were good, but Autumn set a new standard for how we will practice every day. There’s no nurse more deserving of this award.
