Aya RN, Elyse, impresses at orientation

Aya traveler, Elyse, did an amazing job at orientation. Here’s what the preceptor had to say:

“I had the pleasure of orienting Elyse and she was phenomenal and demonstrated impressive critical care nursing skills. The patient we were assigned was deteriorating throughout our shift (during clinical downtime). Elyse experienced the range of interventions: invasive line placement, multiple transfusions, bedside chest tube placement and paracentesis, starting patient on pressors, appropriately titrating pressors, and field trip to CT scan. She is a fast learner, demonstrated strong critical care skills, and expediently notified MD about changes in patient’s clinical condition and anticipated next steps in patient’s plan of care.”

Fantastic job putting your critical care skills to use right away, Elyse!

AnnMarie received a DAISY Award!

Aya RN, AnnMarie, received the DAISY Award for going above and beyond to ensure a patient received their medication. This amazing honor was accompanied by a compliment from a nurse educator at her facility. Read the nomination and shout out below.

“A patient was newly on medication and must have the evening dose [and I had misplaced it]. Miraculously, it was not long before Ann Marie returned my call … she had taken the trouble to search for and to find the packet containing the pills! A security guard had picked it up where I must have unknowingly dropped it in the lobby earlier. By this time, it was dark outside, snow falling and covering the road and sidewalk outside the window. As I had been cautioned not to leave the patient alone, it would be difficult for me to come and get the pills. ‘Where do you live?’ Ann Marie asked. ‘When I have finished work, I can drop the pills at your house on my way home.’ She did this with a smile, snow still falling at 8:00 p.m. The patient, having been a primary care physician who made many house calls, very much appreciates, along with me, the very human aspect of this above and beyond response by AnnMarie.”

Her nurse educator at the facility complimented AnnMarie as well, stating, “The award couldn’t go to a better nurse. We think of her as one of our own. She’s an awesome nurse. I teach college students clinical on her floor and it is always a pleasure to have her be one of the nurses they are working with. I wish they were all like her.”

Well-deserved recognition for RN, Dylan!

Aya RN, Dylan, was acknowledged by his nurse manager for providing amazing care:

“I just wanted to recognize and let you know what an exemplary RN Dylan is. He floated to our unit on Monday 7a shift. He was very sociable, pleasant and professional. He provided excellent care and every time I rounded the unit he was going from room to room and engaged with caring and compassion. I overheard and watched him patiently assist a stroke patient with their lunch — he was never impatient nor rushed and was present in the moment. The conversations he carried on with his patients and the interest he had in them were above and beyond. I truly wish we had him as a dedicated associate. He’s an asset to the facility and the profession. If there is any way to recognize him please do.”

Wow, Dylan! This is amazing. Thank you for the incredible care you give your patients.
