Woman holding child

Kristin receives a DAISY Award nomination

A patient’s family member nominated Kristin for a DAISY Award for the attentive and thoughtful care she gave their child!

The family member wrote, “It’s hard to put the greatness of someone’s spirit into words. The things that make a nurse great for autoimmune patients are the things that often go unnoticed. It’s caring about the tiny details that give clues as to what’s going on inside and how the patient’s health is trending. It’s not shying away from awkward things. It’s being kind without being fake. It’s being real without being a downer. Checking in often. Taking interest without being nosy or intrusive. Kristin understands the big picture and watches for those tiny details that might indicate something going wrong. We have been very lucky to have her as a nurse. Kristin is awesome!”

Congratulations on the DAISY Award nomination, Kristin! Your patients and their families appreciate you, and so do we!

I wish I could have 100 travelers just like her!”

Her compassion for not only the patients, but also for me, has inspired me, and I’ll carry that with me for the rest of my nursing career. Thanks, Jacqueline!”

Our unit is particularly busy right now — and being a resource RN with seven to nine patients is not easy — but Nicol has been so helpful, so agile with changes during a dynamic shift and so willing to jump in where she is needed. It has been a true pleasure having her with us. I wanted to be certain that she did not go unrecognized!”

Emily received a DAISY Award nomination

A fellow nurse nominated Emily for a DAISY Award for going above and beyond to make her patients comfortable.

The nurse wrote, “As a nurse working beside Emily, I have noticed time and time again how she goes above and beyond for her patients. One time, one of her patients was sensitive to light and preferred a dark environment for sleep. I noticed Emily crawling on the ground to tape up the lights underneath the bed. She even applied blackout curtains to all the windows to promote adequate sleep for her patient.”

Jamie received a DAISY Award! A patient nominated her for going beyond the call of duty to make her comfortable.

The patient wrote, “We are so privileged to have such a great nurse caring for us. Jamie is a blessing. She’s genuinely sincere about caring for others. I loved her and felt 100% comfortable with her, like a sister I never had. She could tell right away I was tired and going through an emotional time. She boosted me up and shared our interest in similar crafts. We hit it off. Since I didn’t have glasses with me, she went out and got an extra pair for me to use throughout my stay and take home with me. Her compassion, kindness and dedication to her job are above and beyond. I will never forget Jamie! She is truly a gem and deserves the highest recognition. Thank you!”

Audrey receives a DAISY Award nomination

I know you’re going to be fine.’ This was simply a caring, honest and kind opinion from a nurse who felt I should know I would be okay.
