Christopher receives a DAISY Award nomination

A patient’s mother nominated Christopher for a DAISY Award for the positive impact he had on her son and the trajectory of his care.

The mother wrote, “My 1-year-old son was admitted to the hospital, which we have become very familiar with over the past 9 months since he was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1. This time, I knew things were different. My son declined rapidly, and we were faced with many tough discussions and decisions. We met Chris two weeks into my son’s admission, and my son was immediately drawn to him. After all the tests and procedures, to say he was skeptical to see a new face would be an understatement, but never once did that happen with Chris. My son’s face lit up every time Chris stepped into the room, and a sense of relief came over him. Chris not only gave my son a sense of peace but me and my husband as well. He made sure we understood what was happening, answered our questions and put our worried parent hearts at ease. Chris’ bedside knowledge was an asset numerous times, and I feel he was a key factor in my son’s recovery. He is not only a healthcare provider but an amazing human being! He constantly checked in on me, my husband and our three other sons. He understands how my son’s illness not only affects him but our entire family as a whole.”

Congrats on the well-deserved nomination, Christopher! Keep up the good work.

Queenie is praised by a colleague

A colleague praised Queenie for her skillset and credited her for making their work experience enjoyable.

The colleague said, “I’ve been working at the facility for a month, and I have to say the nicest nurse I’ve met has been another Aya traveler, Queenie! She is so chill and makes everyone feel so valued — coworkers and patients alike! I have specifically heard, on three separate occasions, other nurses say, ‘If I’m ever in the hospital, I want Queenie to be my nurse!’ She always asks if you need help and always looks so calm and collected — even on a busy day! I think a nurse like her should be recognized for being so kind-hearted and welcoming. Thanks to her, my assignment is off to a great start! Kudos to you, Queenie, for being an authentic, wonderful nurse and most of all a kind person!”

Good job, Queenie! Your team admires your hard work and positivity, and so do we.

Hailey receives a DAISY Award nomination

A patient nominated Hailey for a DAISY Award for the sincerity and patience she provided during their stay.

The patient wrote, “I was in the hospital for a little over a week, and Hailey was hands-down the most helpful and knowledgeable individual during my stay. She always answered my call button in a timely manner. I had been very worried about my ailment, and she provided relief with her explanations without making magical promises — only facts. The time she took to explain everything helped me feel more comfortable. She kept me aware of my situation so I didn’t just sit and stew in my worries. She genuinely cared, and you can’t fake that.”

Randall receives his second DAISY Award nomination

A patient nominated Randall, AKA Randy, for a DAISY Award, attributing their positive hospital experience entirely to Randall. This is the second DAISY Award nomination Randall has received.

The patient wrote, “I was placed in the ICU for a wound, and Randy did a stellar job caring for me. He went the extra mile to help me control the pain and explained in layman’s terms what was going on with my wound and the kind of care he was providing. The wound care and the pain control were lifesavers in themselves. I have no medical background, but Randy never got upset when I asked him to repeat himself in regard to what was happening and my next steps in the healing process. Randy, I want you to know I am so grateful for the compassion and care you provided. He was a godsend to me and the other people he worked with.”

Randy, this awe-inspiring story exemplifies the reason you have received two DAISY Award nominations. Congratulations, and keep up the amazing work!

Efosa receives a thank you note from a patient

Efosa received a note from a patient thanking him for the stellar care he provided and recognizing his determination to provide the best care.

The patient wrote, “Efosa was a fantastic nurse! He had great bedside manners, truly listened to his patients and constantly popped in to see if I needed anything! He was thorough and returned in good time when I requested medication or whatever I needed. He also genuinely wanted to learn about my blood disorder, HAE, so he could be confident as my nurse. When his shift ended, he said he hoped to be my nurse the next day. I completely believe he came into work that day not knowing anything about HAE, but left knowing what it is and how to care for patients with this rare, life-threatening disorder. After a challenging night, I was so happy to see him walk into my room the next day. My anxiety dropped, and I felt safe to sleep and heal because I knew I was in good hands.”

Thank you for your amazing care and genuine interest in your patients, Efosa. They’re so grateful, and so are we!
