What types of jobs do staffing companies offer?

How long does it usually take to get hired as a ?

For permanent jobs, the hiring timeframe varies based on the facility’s hiring process. For travel jobs, things often move pretty quickly — in fact, some clinicians even receive same-day offers!

Do staffing agencies help prepare professionals for interviews?

Yes! If you’re applying for travel or per diem roles, your Aya recruiter can help with interview coaching, resume tips and other advice so you feel confident going into your interview. For permanent jobs, the facility will handle the process directly. 

Travel FAQs

Can new grads take travel jobs, or do I need experience first?

Most travel roles require at least a year of recent experience in your specialty. If you’re just starting out, a permanent role is a great first step.

How long are travel assignments and can they be extended?

The length depends on facility needs and seasonal demand, but most travel assignments are 13 weeks long. However, it can range from 8 to 26 weeks (or even longer). And, if you love your assignment and the facility agrees, extending is often an option. When the time is right during your assignment, your recruiter will walk you through all the options for what’s next.

Do travel jobs cover housing?

Yes! When you work an eligible assignment, housing is covered. You’ll have the choice of Aya housing, where we set everything up for you and you just show up for your assignment — or you can choose the housing stipend and find housing on your own. Our team will provide you with resources to help you with your search, if that’s what you’d like to do.

Can I take a short-term assignment as a before committing to a permanent role?

Yes! In fact, a travel assignment is a great way to dip your toes in the water at a facility you’re considering a permanent role at. Plus, it allows you to learn more about the surrounding area where you’d live, before you commit to making it your permanent residence. 

Do travel jobs include health insurance?

Per Diem FAQs

What is per diem work?

Per diem (also called PRN) work is all about flexibility. Pick up shifts at facilities near you when it works for your schedule. Aya makes per diem easy with our Shifts app — once you’re credentialed and ready to go, book a shift with a single swipe.

How is per diem different from travel or permanent roles?

Per diem gives you day-to-day flexibility. Travel jobs are short-term contracts (usually around 13 weeks) and permanent roles are ongoing, full-time positions — both of which will typically have a set schedule. When you work per diem, you can pick up shifts when it’s most convenient for you.

How do I get started with per diem work through Aya?

If you’re ready to get going, register now and let us know you’re interested in per diem. Then, you can search for any per diem jobs that may be available near you. Once you’re credentialed and cleared to work, you can easily book shifts with our Shifts app.

Is there a minimum per diem shift requirement?

You’ll need to provide at least four days of availability each month for every facility where you’re cleared to work. If circumstances prevent you from meeting this requirement, we get it — just give our staffing team a heads up.

How soon can I start working per diem with Aya, and what’s the process?

Aya’s per diem compliance process usually takes about 1–3 weeks, though the exact timeline depends on your readiness and the specific requirements of each facility. To begin, you’ll work with a recruiter and complete an application, which will then be sent to the facility for approval. After approval, a credentialing specialist will guide you through your compliance steps. You’ll provide the necessary documentation, complete any required lab work, and once everything is cleared, you’re set! At that point, you’ll get instructions on downloading and using the Shifts app to pick up shifts, and if your facility requires it, you’ll also attend orientation. 

Can I work per diem while holding a staff or travel job?

Absolutely. Many clinicians pick up per diem shifts while working a travel assignment or permanent job. It’s a great way to supplement your income!

Can I work per diem with Aya for multiple hospitals jobs at the same time?

Yes, we have many clinicians that pick up shifts with multiple local hospitals through Aya. Your recruiter will discuss all options in your area and any facility-specific requirements for all your per diem jobs with Aya.

Permanent FAQs

How do I apply for permanent jobs as a new graduate?

With Aya, you can browse jobs and apply directly with leading facilities. Before you apply, make sure your resume highlights your skills, including clinical rotations as well as practical experience like teamwork and communication. Then, all you have to do is register, upload your resume and apply for any roles you’re qualified for. Your application goes right to the facility, and they’ll reach out if they’d like to move forward in the process. We keep things simple so you can focus on starting your career. Please note, any jobs accepting new grads are clearly labeled on our site. 

Do I need work experience to apply for permanent roles?

Not always. Some facilities welcome new grads, while others require experience. You can easily search for new grad jobs using our filters. Log in to your Aya account and head to the job search section. Within the filters, choose “Permanent” under “Employment Type” — then scroll to the bottom of the filters and select “Accepting New Grads.” 

Can I apply for multiple permanent jobs at the same time?

Of course! You can apply to as many permanent roles as you’d like, all with your Aya profile. Every application is submitted to the facility directly, so you don’t have to start from scratch each time. However, keep in mind that tailoring your resume to the specific facility you’re hiring for is a great way to make sure you stand out from other applicants. 

Do permanent jobs include sign-on bonuses or relocation assistance?

Some facilities offer sign-on bonuses or relocation assistance for their permanent jobs. Typically, if a bonus is offered, you’ll see that noted in the job details. 

What benefits do you get with permanent jobs?

Benefits vary depending on the facility, but many include health, dental and vision insurance, retirement plans and paid time off.
