The Press & Standard: Spotlight-Travel Teacher Laura Robinson
Aya Education special education teacher, Laura Robinson, shared how being a traveling teacher has reignited her desire to be in the classroom and seamlessly combined her passion for teaching with her love of travel into one fulfilling career.
“Robinson, who is from San Antonio, Texas retired after teaching in the public school system for 28 years in 2023. She felt something was missing. What appealed to Robinson besides being able to teach again, was the opportunity to travel. Robinson reflects that she was not one that would have been able to do a lot of traveling, before and this opportunity allowed her to have the best of both worlds.”
After traveling teacher jobs began appearing in her inbox on Indeed, she applied, spoke to a recruiter, and got the ball rolling. What appealed to Robinson besides being able to teach again was the opportunity to travel. She reflects that she was not someone who had been able to do a lot of traveling before, and this opportunity allowed her to have the best of both worlds. This current school year is Robinson’s first year as a travel special education teacher, and she has enjoyed both the work and seeing South Carolina.
