Rancho Mirage, California

Coachella Valley may be synonymous with music festivals, but it’s so much more than that. The Southern California desert is a dream destination for arts lovers, golfers, hipsters, retirees and anyone looking for a respite from the stress of city life. Located in the upscale community of Rancho Mirage, surrounded by the popular tourist areas of Palm Springs, Palm Desert and La Quinta, Eisenhower Health is the valley’s only not-for-profit hospital, a teaching hospital and premier healthcare facility comprised of a 463-bed hospital, the Annenberg Health Sciences Building and the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center.

Meet an Aya Nurse Who’s Been There

I love working on the OR team here at Eisenhower. So much so, I’m on my fourth extension! The OR can sometimes be a negative culture because it’s so high stress. But it’s not like that at Eisenhower.

Not only is the campus beautiful, but there’s a lot of ancillary support. All the physicians and nurses are wonderful to work with. They definitely make you feel part of the family and they want you to stay.

At other facilities before this, I’ve felt like just a traveler. But here, they’re used to travelers so they include us in everything like Nurses Week and other holidays.

The fact that it’s located in Rancho Mirage is a plus, too! I love the desert climate. It’s really pretty here. You’re surrounded by mountains, so the hiking is great. It’s also a central location, everything is two hours away. One weekend I went skiing in Big Bear and the next I went to San Diego to hit the beach!

I’m really enjoying myself and would highly recommend Eisenhower to any traveler looking for a great assignment.

“Friendly people, beautiful cars, great restaurants and casinos. It’s centrally located in the Coachella Valley, with low crime. It’s hot in the summer, but close enough to the beach to escape the heat. Golf, tennis, and pickle ball are all very popular here. Good hiking trails and fantastic shopping, too. Everything is conveniently located so there’s no need to drive on a freeway. Eisenhower Hospital has wonderful doctors. The traffic is tolerable unlike San Diego, Orange County or Los Angeles. Most of the jobs here are in the service, restaurant, hotel, golf and tennis industries.”
