RN, Olivia was titled Employee of the Month by her facility

Olivia received the Employee of the Month Award at her facility for not only being a healthcare hero, but also a hero to her colleagues by looking out for their safety and overall well-being.

Regarding her award, Olivia said, “I received the Employee of the Month Award at the facility for October 2022. I took the lead at our outpatient center when a patient became symptomatically hypotensive and we had to initiate a rapid response and transfer the patient to the ED. I also used an extinguisher to put out a fire in our break room that went undetected due to a lack of smoke alarms. After the incident, we contacted maintenance and safety to come up with a plan to prevent an event like this from happening in the future. I also started a clinic running/walking club to encourage everyone to get outside and exercise.”

You’re doing fantastic work, Olivia. Your team is proud of you, and so are we!

Judy receives a DAISY Award nomination

A patient’s family member nominated Judy for a DAISY Award for the profound support she gave the patient and his family.

The family member wrote, “Judy was working on the respiratory critical care unit during the last seven days of my grandfather’s life. She was so compassionate and caring. Her care for my grandfather was the best I have ever seen (and my recent experience with hospital care is extensive). She checked on him hourly and made sure his needs were met and that he was not in pain. When he needed additional levels of support, she contacted them quickly and they arrived quickly. While I am saddened that none of my family was by my grandfather’s bedside when he passed, I’m comforted knowing that Judy was there making sure he was not in pain. She also made sure our family had everything we needed and that our needs and our desires for my grandfather’s care were met. Though hospitalization and death are painful, Judy made everything as comfortable as it could be, which took away many stresses for our family. Thank you so much, Judy!”

The team would also like to give their thanks, Judy. Congratulations on the DAISY Award nomination!

Jackie recieves a DAISY Award nomination

A family nominated Jackie for a DAISY Award and recognized her for her passion, bedside manner and impeccable nursing skills.

The family wrote, “Our mother is 87 years old and had emergency GI surgery. She was not recovering well and spent five weeks in the hospital. Mostly immobile and severely depressed, she was in rough shape. Jackie was her main nurse and lifeline to our family and the entire care team. We can’t say enough about Jackie’s care, both personally and professionally level, and we believe Jackie is a role model for all students and experienced practitioners alike.

“Jackie was everything you want in a nurse: kind, caring, patient, accessible and terrific at communicating. She treated our family as individuals and answered tons of questions. She acted as a liaison with physicians, nurse practitioners and the entire care team. She held our mom’s hand, helped aides change her bedding and re-position her, patiently explained procedures and calmed our mom’s worries. Her technical acumen was obvious. We also observed Jackie’s interaction with her colleagues and saw the same level of care, consideration and communication she offered our mom. It’s clearly in Jackie’s DNA to treat others with respect. Our mom is doing better, and so much of her positive outcome was driven by Jackie’s non-stop caring and technically competent support. Each time we approached Jackie to thank her, it caused tears all around. Thank you Jackie on behalf of our family and our mom.”

Congratulations on the DAISY Award nomination, Jackie. Keep up the great work! ...
