SDBJ: Aya Healthcare Recruiting Nurses for UC San Diego Health
San Diego-based medical staffing company, Aya Healthcare, has partnered with UC San Diego Health to address the ongoing shortage of healthcare workers. The partnership aims to recruit nurses and other hospital staff for permanent positions as well as temporary roles. Sophia Morris, Executive Vice President of Client Fulfillment and Strategy teams at Aya Healthcare, stated that the demand for permanent staff has increased due to burnout and retirement resulting from the stress healthcare workers faced during the pandemic.
UC San Diego Health’s Director of Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefit Services, Doug Levine, highlighted the challenges hospitals are facing in finding enough nurses and critical staff, stating that the shortage is not going to ease anytime soon. The hospital needs to fill positions in lab and surgical technicians, custodians, and food service workers in addition to nurses. The partnership between UC San Diego Health and Aya Healthcare has grown out of a longstanding relationship in which Aya provided travel nurses to fill temporary staffing vacancies.
