Discover Rhode Island

As the smallest state in the union, at only 37 miles wide and 48 miles long, Rhode Island nevertheless boasts miles and miles of shoreline. Cliffs rise over the Atlantic and lighthouses remind the visitor of the coasts’ maritime past. The Ocean State is beautiful in any season, but the spectacular fall colors are particularly inviting. Vibrant hues of orange, yellow and red burst from the maple and the sunsets are so pretty they seem unreal.

You can’t visit Rhode Island without touring its most popular site – The Breakers. This mansion built for Cornelius Vanderbilt II is the most extravagant of the “cottages” in swanky Newport. This seventy room Italian Renaissance style mansion was built in just two years from 1893 to 1895. Take a tour through the estate and admire the intricate designs and architectural structures that make up the 125,000 square foot home.

You will encounter no shortage of the unique while in “Little Rhody,” including WaterFire in providence. Popular with visitors and locals alike, stroll along three rivers as over 80 fires blaze in sculptures along the water. This is not a sit and watch event, Rhode Islanders recommend that you explore on foot and listen to the wide variety of music specifically chosen to integrate with the fire sculpture. From sunset to midnight the beauty of WaterFire enchants all those who experience the amazing event.
