The Toledo Blade: Road Warriors – Travel Programs Offer Adventures for Nurses
Aya’s EVP of client fulfillment and strategy, Sophia Morris, shares the history of travel nursing and how traveling offers freedom and flexibility, and the ability to choose temporary assignments that fit healthcare professionals’ lifestyles.
As registered nurses search for higher pay, adventure, or a change from the stresses of the pandemic, they are switching from permanent positions to travel nursing. Travel nursing offers nurses flexibility in terms of choosing temporary assignments that suit their career goals and lifestyle. Due to pay, length of contract, and location, travel nurses have the luxury of choosing where they want to work, which can provide much-needed support to hospitals experiencing staffing shortages.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary for a travel nurse has increased in 2022. Although most people believe that travel nurses work only for the money, many work for the opportunity to travel. As they move from one hospital to another, travel nurses get dedicated time off between contracts to explore the country and refuel.
