Aya Walks to Help End Alzheimer’s Disease

October 3, 2019 | Aya in the Community

On Saturday, September 21, 60 Aya employees, family members and friends walked to #EndALZ in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, 5.9 million Americans currently live with Alzheimer’s disease and this number is projected to rise to almost 14 million by 2050, making efforts like these even more crucial. Through events like the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the association strives to raise funds, find a cure and support families impacted by the disease.

A company committed to giving back

Aya’s Philanthropy Committee rallied, fundraised and organized team members to participate in the Alzheimer’s Walk for the sixth year in a row. “Aya gives back to the community because we like to support causes that are near and dear to our employees’ hearts,” explains Executive Assistant and team lead for the walk, Anna Guile.

“When I’m out here, I think about the Aya nurses who are taking care of my grandparents, my parents and other family members,” says Compliance Specialist, Katherine, “I love Aya because we are always connected to causes that help others and it’s been so nice to give back today and making closer steps to hopefully finding a cure.”

This is a disease that affects the world immensely. Alzheimer’s causes more deaths than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined — and every 65 seconds someone in the United States develops the disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Aya is honored to support causes that personally affect members of our team and their families. This year, Team Aya raised $5,420 for the Alzheimer’s Association in support of research to find a cure and support for families still living with this debilitating disease.
