Aya Traveler and Recruiter Meet for the First Time at the San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade
What’s better than an amazing parade along the San Diego Bay? Bringing together Aya travelers and recruiters in a safe space to meet for the very first time at this special event!
The Holiday Bowl
Since 1978, the Holiday Bowl has brought hundreds of thousands of people to America’s Finest City for a week of college football fun. One major feature of the Holiday Bowl is the parade, which brings the streets of downtown San Diego alive with world-class marching bands, amazing floats and a procession of enormous balloons. This year’s parade was two years in the making — which meant it was even more fabulous than years before! As a San Diego-based company, Aya Healthcare was invited to walk in the Holiday Bowl Parade.
Travelers and Recruiters
This was a special day not only for San Diego, but for our Aya travelers and recruiters. The relationship Aya recruiters have with their travelers is something special that isn’t found everywhere. Our recruiters truly care about our clinicians’ careers and celebrate their success as if it was their own. And we were thrilled to help a few of them meet each other in person. Like Benjamin, a travel respiratory therapist. Originally from South Dakota, he’s currently on assignment in San Diego. The Holiday Bowl Parade provided Benjamin with a unique opportunity to meet his recruiter, Larry, for the very first time. Benjamin and Larry greeted each other with a handshake, a hug and ear-to-ear smiles.
“Larry has been amazing to work with over the past year. He’s the reason I’m with Aya, and why I stay with Aya,” explains Benjamin. “Larry is basically part of my family, so it’s great to finally put a face to a name. As a husband and the father of two young kids, I really rely on Larry to make sure my assignments are a good fit for my family, being that they travel with me.” As a traveler, Benjamin has the flexibility to explore new cities while spending more time with his family. “Larry truly goes above-and-beyond to make sure my family is put first, by recommending assignments in family-friendly cities. We love San Diego because there’s so much to do here with our kids. It’s so great that we all got to meet in-person and walk in the parade together.”
This was Aya’s first time participating in the parade. Our group consisted of travel clinicians, corporate staff and loved ones. Throngs of cheers and applause were heard for twelve city blocks. As we walked by, locals and out-of-town visitors waved and saluted Aya and our healthcare workers’ instrumental efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
