Aya Travel Nurse Volunteers in Cambodia and Benin
Meet our incredible travel nurse, Ashley! When she isn’t on assignment, she loves to volunteer abroad. As a member of the Emergency Nursing Association she had the opportunity to volunteer with Project Helping Hands in Cambodia where she visited schools and set up clinics for children. Ashley loved sharing her nutrition and self-care knowledge with these little ones! She believes this education can make a huge difference in people’s lives. Ashley specialized in both primary and wound care and says while wounds eventually heal, the lessons we can teach a child stay with them forever.
Ashley has also volunteered with Mercy Ships in Benin where she cared for patients whose burns required surgery. This outstanding organization provides free surgical care for people with little to no medical care across the globe. Ashely is looking forward to volunteering again in the near future, perhaps in Nepal or New Guinea. Eventually, she would like to spread her healing touch across the globe!
When she isn’t volunteering Ashley is always on an adventure. When we spoke with her recently she was on a road trip, en route to see the Grand Canyon! She’s currently heading out West to her next assignment in El Centro, CA. An avid hiker, she looks forward to visiting Joshua Tree which is a two-hour drive away. As for future assignments, she hopes to explore Washington, New Mexico and Colorado! We love working with this fearless traveler and we can’t wait to hear more of her stories!
