Aya Travel Nurse Buys the Car of Her Dreams

August 22, 2018 | Clinician Stories

Congratulations to our travel nurse, Corinne, who recently purchased her dream car! She never thought she’d land a job that allowed her the freedom and flexibility she has today. Accomplishing this lifelong goal means the world to her. “I’ve always wanted a silver Mercedes,” she said. “I know it’s silly to covet a car, but to me, that car symbolizes how far I’ve come in my life and my career. As a single mom, I’m able to easily provide for my children without the worry of living paycheck to paycheck. As a little girl, my parents didn’t even own a car for a long time.”

Corinne’s interest in nursing began while caring for her mother-in-law who battled ALS for three years before passing away. Although she enjoyed taking care of others, Corinne asserts, “Every day became repetitious and I didn’t think I enjoyed nursing. I see travel as a specialty in itself and once I did my first contract, I was hooked! Travel nursing made me love being a nurse again.” It’s the constant change that keeps her fascinated. She loves meeting new people and finds that the expectations of travel nursing challenge her in the best way.

Corinne may extend for a third time at her current assignment because the hospital ratios are viable and she loves working in the neuro unit. Her team members are helpful, but many are soon-to-be moms. She hints, “The sixth nurse just said she’s pregnant,” — giving Corinne all the more reason to possibly extend.

Corinne says that she might not ever go back to being a staff nurse, “Not only is my pay very competitive, but you guys saved me so much money while providing superior health benefits. My recruiter feels like a friend and not a colleague, he’s respectful of my time and my needs as a nurse.” We can’t wait to see more of her dreams come true as she continues on this journey!
