Aya Employee Tiffany Conquers Cancer — Twice!
Beating cancer is a tremendous feat. Imagine having to do it twice. That’s exactly what Aya Healthcare employee Tiffany, Licensing Team Lead, did. And the compassion shown by her colleagues during this time was remarkable.
We often talk about how Aya is a great place to work because of the awesome benefits and plethora of perks, which is true. But what really makes Aya different from other companies is the people. There are endless stories of Aya employees treating one another like family, but some stand out more than others.
Darin, VP of Workforce Solutions, recently made a deal with Tiffany: once she kicked cancer’s butt for the second time, he would treat her to a Cowboys game. Why the Cowboys? “I’ve always loved the Cowboys. When I was four, I wanted to be a Cowboys cheerleader when I grew up!” Tiffany confesses. “I dressed up as one for three years straight. I’ve loved them ever since.”
Once again, Tiffany showed cancer who was boss — and Darin came through on his promise. He flew Tiffany to Atlanta so she could meet up with fellow employee, Natalie, Director of Client Services, and they could attend the Cowboy versus Falcons game together.
“Cancer sucks. Period,” said Darin. “And Tiffany met the challenge, fighting it head on TWICE now. She’s healthy and happy and a force to be reckoned with. This experience is a way to show how proud I am to know her and be part of her Aya family. I’m humbled to be considered her friend.”
Go Big or Go Home
But Tiffany didn’t just get to attend the game — Darin pulled some strings so she and Natalie could enjoy the view from the Mercedes-Benz Club. And, he asked a special connection to make sure everything about the experience was just what Tiffany hoped for. Turns out it was!
“I had the best time watching the Dallas Cowboys game in Atlanta!” said Tiffany. “Of course, the win was an added bonus! Thank you, Darin and Natalie, for making this all happen. Atlanta did not disappoint. I will be back!”
At Aya, people don’t just “come to work.” They show up and do their best for our clinicians and clients – and it’s easy to do when you love your coworkers!
“After 6+ years, I love my Aya family like they’re my real family,” gushes Tiffany. “The fact that Darin cared enough to make this dream a reality for me truly shows that we’re more than just colleagues here.”
