Award Winning Traveler Todd Saves Patient in Under Two Minutes

December 5, 2018 | Clinician Stories

On Grey’s Anatomy they tend to do things that don’t always happen in real life. And that’s exactly what Aya traveler Todd did when he resuscitated and shocked a patient in under two minutes! While working at a New York facility, the patient coded and Todd sprang into action to save the patient’s life. Only six people in the hospital have ever resuscitated a patient so quickly! It’s no surprise Todd has been asked to extend his stay at the facility multiple times.

The facility administration was so impressed they recognized Todd with an award! Congratulations, Todd! We’re so proud to call you an Aya traveler and look forward to seeing you continue to make an impact on patients and their families.

Have you caught an Aya traveler doing something amazing? Consider nominating them for a prestigious DAISY Award!

What’s the DAISY Foundation All About?

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, Patrick’s family deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown not only to Patrick, but to all of them as well. When he passed, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way, and so they created the DAISY Award.

How Can I Recognize a Fellow Aya Traveler?

If you want to shout out an Aya traveler for their DAISY Award nursing — you know, the kind of nursing that makes you say, “Wow!” — we encourage you to submit a nomination. Just make sure to have details about why the nominee is fabulous and what they’ve done to impact patient care.

  • Established a special connection with patients and families through trust and emotional support
  • Displayed a commitment to the highest standards of professional nursing practice
